the beginning of the hairbows

i've been wanting to make some hair bows for a long time and have been collecting instructions for how to do it. this week i was traveling, so i decided to pack my ribbon, clips, and glue gun and see what i could do. and wow, did i do.

36 sets of mini clippies. next step ... little bug bows (they're cuter than they sound) and the curly ribbon clips. i'm excited!

christmas crafting

i've always liked the idea of making christmas gifts, but by the time i figure out what and how to do it, i give up and go for the easier "shop online and have it delivered to my house" option. however, this year i did actually make gifts, because i didn't really have any money to buy gifts. hand made gifts are better anyway, right?

and i seriously intended to take pictures of all the kids sporting their gifts from aunt nat ... but the timing was off and it just didn't happen. so i made the girls tu-tus and the boys capes. the only picture i have of the tu-tus is on another camera, so i guess you'll just have to imagine it. but here are the super hero capes. blue for nathan and black for julez. nathan tried flying off the back of the couch with his on, and it didn't work. too bad, huh?

and for the adults, i made these signs. they're 30 inches long, and i am in love with how they turned out. we cut the wood, routed it, painted it, and then cut the letters out, put them on the board, and then used a spray varnish to finish them off. love love love them.

i'm hired

mia was asked to do fliers and posters for their ward's enrichment meeting next month, and guess who got the job (non-paying, of course!)

they're doing a service night ... quilt tying and wrapping gifts that people are donating for the local missionaries. here's what i came up with for the flier ...

and then we decided to do the posters (for the church foyer) with the same theme. i love the way they ended up!

they loved it ... or so they said! and now they're trying to recruit me into their ward after i "graduate" from the singles branch. fun.
while i was on a roll, i offered to do a flier for my own use. as a relief society enrichment "activity" we're holding a fireside on sunday to discuss genealogy (to be followed up with a branch nauvoo temple trip in a couple months). i got to use my own picture! i was excited.

playdate invite

i'm kinda loving this "use a real picture as the background for the invitation" style. here's one that i made for mia's ward playdate.

sunflower bridal shower

i was asked to help with some invites for a bridal shower that my friend is throwing. the only theme i was given was "sunflowers", so i did what i could.

{i started with a cake and added flowers, but quickly decided the flowers around each level was too much}

{and i love this}

{and this is the one they chose}

beach party invite

we planned a beach party this past weekend ...

originally i wanted it square ... but i couldn't find square envelopes easily, so we changed it to 4x6 ...
